Support groups for moms, in Ithaca and online: Gentle guidance for mothers struggling with anxiety, postpartum depression, and guilt, who want to create healthy emotional patterns for themselves and their families.

The Ithaca Mama’s Comfort Camp (a free monthly support group for mothers).
Struggling while mothering? You are so not alone. If you feel overwhelmed by motherhood, or get that “I’m a bad mom” feeling, please join us in this safe space for sharing, sisterhood, and learning new coping skills. We talk about ways of handling guilt, worry, anxiety, sleep deprivation, postpartum blues, or postpartum depression. The group is for any mother who needs comfort and support, no matter how old your kids are and no official diagnosis is required.

Meetings usually take place at 12:30pm on the first Thursday of the month, but dates are subject to change, please check the website for the most up to date information.

Babies and toddlers welcome; feel free to bring your lunch with you.

If you can’t come to meetings: check out the Mama’s Comfort Camp Facebook refueling station: This free online support space functions as a safe haven of self-kindness and self-care for moms, where all our motherhood struggles are met with understanding and sisterhood. We can safely vent, ask questions, ask for ideas and commiseration, while knowing that we will not be judged, and not be given unsolicited advice. It’s a completely safe and private space. Only members can read or post, and what you say in the group doesn’t show up on your regular facebook timeline or in a google search. And it’s so easy on the mom: we don’t have to get dressed or schlep a diaper bag or car seat anywhere. We can access the group anytime, from the convenience of our Facebook streams. Welcome to Mama’s Comfort Camp Facebook group: a pool of resources, a bank of ideas, an ever filling reservoir of eyes and ears, shoulders and hugs. Created by Ithaca-based Yael Saar, Mama’s Comfort Camp has mothers from our area as well as many from all around the world. This is just the tip of the ice-cream, you can read the full scoop on this page, or go directly to our Facebook gateway page to ask to join the group: https://www.facebook.com/mamas.comfort.camp.
